Legislation for Higher Wages in Extracurricular Education
The Ukrainian Parliament has passed a law enabling salary increases for staff working in extracurricular education. The pay raises will take effect starting January 1, 2026. The adopted legislation, known as Law No. 14323, empowers the founders of state and municipal extracurricular institutions to set base salaries, bonuses, and incentive payments at levels exceeding those established by the national government.
This move aligns with broader efforts to improve public sector compensation in Ukraine. A similar mechanism is already in place for preschool education, indicating a state policy to boost funding across educational institutions. The Cabinet of Ministers has also decided to allocate additional subsidies to local budgets specifically for wage payments to education and social sector workers. Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi noted that the project includes an additional sum of UAH 53 billion earmarked for these salary increases.
