Ukraine's Parliament Urges Global Community to Isolate Russia and Boost Aid

Парламент України закликає світову спільноту підтримати санкції проти Росії та збільшити гуманітарну допомогу.

Appeal from Ukraine's Parliament and President

Marking the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion on February 24, 2026, the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, has adopted Resolution No. 15041. This resolution calls on foreign governments and parliaments worldwide to increase their support for Ukraine and to isolate Russia. On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the European Parliament, reinforcing the critical need for sustained international backing as the conflict continues.

Calls for International Support

In his speech, President Zelenskyy emphasized that

"Putin is 'war itself,' and any support for his regime is a choice in favor of bloodshed"
- Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He stressed the urgent requirement for enhanced military assistance, specifically listing:

  • modern air defense systems;
  • long-range artillery;
  • combat aircraft.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian leader called for expediting the establishment of a Special International Tribunal to hold Russia's top leadership accountable for its actions. The Verkhovna Rada's resolution also demands the complete isolation of Russia and its allies, aiming to strengthen global solidarity against the aggression and to support Ukraine's efforts to restore peace and stability in the region. These appeals come at a time when Western allies are debating the scope and longevity of their assistance packages.

The resolution and the presidential address underscore the vital role of international support for Ukraine as hostilities persist. Increased military aid and the diplomatic isolation of the aggressor are presented as crucial factors for preserving regional stability. As the war drags on, these calls to action from Ukrainian leadership are intended to galvanize the international community into more decisive steps to support Ukraine's defense and sovereignty.
