Supreme Court Ruling on Actor Ostap Stupka

The Supreme Court of Ukraine has upheld the sentence for actor Ostap Stupka, confirming a three-year restriction of liberty and an eight-year driving ban. This final ruling relates to a traffic accident that occurred on April 4, 2023, in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district. While driving a Range Rover, Stupka crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a parked Mitsubishi, resulting in injuries that required the victim's hospitalization.

A breathalyzer test at the scene recorded Stupka's blood alcohol level at 1.62 per mille, confirming he was driving under the influence. He was detained immediately following the crash. His lawyer's request to replace the sentence with a fine of 170,000 hryvnias was rejected by the Supreme Court, which refused to review the verdict.

Ostap Stupka's Prior Offenses

This incident is not Stupka's first drunk driving offense. In April 2015, the Dniprovskyi District Court of Kyiv found him guilty of drunk driving and imposed a two-year driving ban. Subsequently, in September 2017, the Podilskyi District Court also found him guilty but did not assign punishment due to the expiration of statutory limitations. Similarly, in September 2018, the Solomianskyi District Court refrained from sentencing him for the same reason.

Consequently, the Supreme Court's decision is final, and the actor now faces a three-year term of restricted liberty and an eight-year prohibition from driving.
