Love and Resilience Conquer Hoverla’s Summit

Despite losing a leg after being wounded while serving with the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade in Donetsk region, veteran Yuriy Yurykov ascended Hoverla—Ukraine’s highest mountain—to ask his partner Taya for her hand in marriage. The climb took 14 hours, with nearly 9 of those spent navigating a grueling ascent through snow, rocks, and steep slopes. Relying on a prosthetic limb, Yuriy pressed forward as Taya broke trail ahead of him through the snow.

A Testament to Endurance and Devotion

At the peak of Hoverla, Yuriy Yurykov dropped to one knee and proposed to Taya. According to the Dnipro Municipal Sports Club, this was more than just a summit—it became a powerful symbol of love that guides, strength that refuses to surrender, and two people finding each other even after life’s hardest trials.
