Targeted Support for Veterans with Vision Loss

Veterans who have lost their sight—either partially or completely—while defending Ukraine can now apply for targeted financial aid of up to 95,000 UAH. Applications open today, as announced by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. This program is part of broader efforts to assist those injured in the line of duty, offering both financial relief and practical tools for daily life.

Program Details

Funds from the Red Cross will be deposited into designated accounts from August 1 through October 30, 2026. Eligible recipients can choose from 26 types of household appliances and equipment, including:

  • Specialized adaptive gadgets, such as smartphones with screen-reader functionality,
  • Adaptive home appliances,
  • Specialized navigation systems.

Applications can be submitted in person, through an authorized representative, by mail, or online to the local veterans policy department. Internally displaced persons (IDPs) should apply based on their current place of residence.

This initiative marks a significant step in supporting veterans who face serious challenges after sustaining war-related injuries. It not only provides financial assistance but also grants access to life-changing technologies that can greatly improve everyday living. The program underscores the government’s commitment to addressing veterans’ needs and fostering their reintegration into society.
