The presentation of the book 'Voices of Black Lives Matter' in Lviv has been canceled. The presentation of the research book by Oksana Bryukhovetska 'Voices of Black Lives Matter' was canceled in Lviv. The publishing house 'Choven' received many racist comments and threats on social media, which forced the event to be canceled.

None of them read the book, do not understand the context the author was writing about, and why this research is important for Ukrainian readers, especially in times of Russian aggression against Ukraine. (We all need to realize today: without understanding the complex internal American processes we cannot expect the social and political support from the USA that we so desperately need in times of war.)

The book 'Voices of BLM' was written in the fall of 2024 and was published at the beginning of July this year. However, after receiving threats from sellers, the overwhelming claims state that the book should have been canceled immediately, as the title of the edition sounds inappropriate in light of the recent murder of a Ukrainian woman in the USA.

Division on social media

On social media, users split into two camps. Some said that it was unnecessary to cancel the presentation of the book, while others insist that it was necessary to do so from the very beginning. Let us remind you that to this day, the crime against the Ukrainian woman Iryna Zarutska in the USA is one of the main thematic videos discussed by Ukrainians on social media.

The incident that occurred with the presentation of the book 'Voices of Black Lives Matter' in Lviv indicates the existence of the problem of racism and misunderstanding in modern society. It is important to discuss these issues more broadly, understand the context, and deepen our worldview for building a more tolerant and understanding world.
