The restoration of medical institutions damaged during the war is ongoing. As of January 1, 2026, 2,551 objects belonging to 817 health care facilities have been damaged or destroyed in Ukraine. Of these, 327 objects belonging to 125 medical institutions have been completely destroyed. The most damage has been sustained by medical institutions in:

As of today, 703 objects have already been restored, and partial restoration has affected 325 objects. However, 65 of the previously restored objects have sustained damage again. Despite these problems, medical assistance continues to be provided at 1,546 objects, of which 185 are functioning partially. It is also worth noting that 233 facilities were evacuated to other premises, which helped ensure access to medical services.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 283 emergency medical service vehicles have been destroyed in Ukraine, 171 vehicles have sustained damage, and 80 vehicles have been captured by the enemy. The restoration of medical infrastructure remains a priority for the country, highlighting the importance of ensuring access to medical services under challenging conditions.
Situation Analysis
Analyzing the situation, it can be noted that despite progress in the restoration of medical institutions, challenges remain significant due to new damage to previously restored objects. The continued provision of medical services at a large number of facilities, even in conditions of partial damage and evacuations, indicates the resilience of Ukraine's medical system. The importance of supporting and restoring medical infrastructure amid war underscores the need to ensure access to medical services for the population affected by the conflict.
