Vacation 2024: How Inflation Has Changed Tour Prices in Ukraine and Abroad
Planning vacations for Ukrainians has become complicated due to inflation and rising tour prices. The cost of tours has increased by an average of 10-15%. This is reflected in both foreign destinations and domestic tourism, forcing Ukrainians to be more careful when choosing a vacation spot.
Prices for Foreign Tours
The budget segment for foreign travel shows diversity. Tours to Egypt, particularly to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, start at 700 euros for 7-10 nights with an all-inclusive format. The cost of a June tour to El Alamein for two people is from 89 thousand UAH. From January 1, 2026, the cost of a visa to Egypt will rise from $25 to $45, which will also affect the overall travel expenses.
- Exotic destinations such as Tanzania (Zanzibar) offer trips starting from 115 thousand UAH for two.
- The Seychelles will cost from 180 thousand UAH, but only with breakfasts.
- In the UAE at the beginning of January, the cost of a vacation is 47 thousand UAH for breakfasts or 87 thousand UAH for an all-inclusive format.
Such prices may become a barrier for many wishing to visit these popular resorts.
Domestic Tourism in Ukraine
Domestic tourism in Ukraine has also undergone changes. Prices for vacation in popular locations such as the Carpathians (Bukovel, Skhidnytsia), Lviv, and Odessa have risen by 10-15%. More than 54% of Ukrainians travel with children within the country, which also influences the choice of vacation spot. A May vacation in Turkey for two costs 33 thousand UAH, which is quite a competitive price compared to domestic options.
Logistical costs should also be taken into account. A transfer from Kyiv to Chișinău (Moldova) costs 2-2.5 thousand UAH, while a bus trip to Bulgaria takes 18-26 hours. Early booking allows savings of 20% to 50% of the cost, which is an important factor when planning a vacation.
Thus, changes in tour pricing caused by inflation significantly impact the options for Ukrainians when choosing vacations. Many tourists are forced to reconsider their plans and adapt their budgets, which may lead to a decrease in the number of trips both abroad and within the country. In conditions of economic instability, it is important to consider all expenses to ensure a comfortable and affordable vacation.
