The President of the Bundestag, Julia Klöckner, stated at a meeting of the parliamentary leaders of the G7 countries in Ottawa about the threat of information attacks from Russia. In particular, she noted that these attacks are aimed not only at Ukraine but also at destabilizing democratic societies around the world. Klöckner emphasized that such attacks are particularly active in Germany in the context of refugees, energy, and support for the Ukrainian army.

'Russia's war against Ukraine is also a war against truth. It is accompanied by disinformation campaigns aimed at destabilizing democratic societies far beyond Ukraine,' Klöckner stressed.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany confirms the fact of attempts by Moscow to influence public opinion and elections in the country. German intelligence services note systematic attempts by Russian entities to interfere in the internal affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.

With the rise of Russia's information attacks on a multinational level, the necessity of coordinating measures to combat this problem within the G7 and other international formats is becoming increasingly evident.
