According to the document, the start date of the war is considered February 19, 2014 - the day when Russian occupiers began their invasion of Crimea. In the new law, the war is clearly defined as 'the struggle for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of Ukraine'.

The law also states that the war is a consequence of 'the consistent Russian imperial policy' aimed at destroying Ukrainian statehood and identity.

It should be noted that on Friday, August 29, a Day of Mourning has been declared in Kyiv in memory of the victims of the massive attack by the enemy on the capital that occurred on the night of August 28. 'On this day, flags will be flown at half-mast on all municipal buildings in the city. It is also recommended to lower state flags on the buildings of state and private property. On August 29, all entertainment events are prohibited in the city,' said Klitschko.
