Military Training in Universities: What Students Will Learn

Starting from September 1, 2025, all universities in Ukraine will introduce mandatory basic military training for male students. Women can join this program voluntarily. People's Deputy Oleksandr Fediyenko, who is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, supports this step announced by the government.

'Well, basically, there is nothing complicated about it,' - noted Fediyenko, adding that the program will now include skills in drone management, medical training, and other skills.'

This training will be beneficial for students in military departments, as they will be able to become junior officers. Fediyenko emphasizes that this is not related to conscription into the army but is part of an educational program aimed at enhancing society's defense capabilities and teaching citizens basic skills for their own safety.

The schedule and conditions for completing the course will be established by the universities themselves, integrating this training into the overall program. Thus, Ukraine is preparing for potential threats and risks, caring for its defense capabilities and readiness to respond to any challenges.
