Legal Document Procedures for Military Personnel
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has announced that service members can now have key legal documents certified directly at their place of duty. This process bypasses the need for a civilian notary and exempts them from paying state duties. Any document authenticated by a military unit commander will carry full legal weight.

The documents that can be processed under this new procedure include:
- A power of attorney, enabling a soldier's family to manage their financial accounts and represent their interests with state authorities;
- A last will and testament, ensuring that property and benefits are transferred to the individuals specifically chosen by the service member in the event of their death;
- Personal instructions for the event of death, designating a recipient for a one-time monetary assistance payment;
- Instructions for the event of capture or going missing, where the defender can specify who receives funds and in what proportion.
This development is crucial for military personnel and their families, as it streamlines the documentation process during challenging service conditions. The ability to formalize important legal instruments directly within their unit reduces bureaucratic hurdles and grants defenders greater control over their financial and property affairs.
