Identified Problems in Logistics Support for Soldiers
A military survey conducted by the Accounting Chamber and the Ministry of Defense has revealed serious problems in the logistics support of Ukrainian soldiers. The survey involved 25,000 military personnel, and the results showed that 60% of respondents are forced to purchase supplies at their own expense. This indicates significant shortcomings in the supply system that require urgent resolution.
Moreover, more than half of the soldiers expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of food, which also raises concerns. Many military personnel reported issues with the wear and quality of the equipment provided to them. Additionally, 26% of respondents noted a lack of fuel in their units, complicating the execution of combat tasks. Such disruptions in fuel supply can negatively affect the overall readiness of the army.
Need for Reforms in the Supply Sector
Another problem identified in the survey is the uneven progress in the digitalization of logistics support. Hennadii Plis noted that
“the new model of logistics procurement has potential, but it has not yet become the error-free system that the army needs.”This indicates the necessity for further reforms in the support of military forces and the improvement of the supply system.
Overall, the survey results highlight the urgent need to improve service conditions for military personnel, as their support is critically important for maintaining the country's defense capabilities.
The identified problems in logistics support could significantly impact the combat readiness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, especially as the country continues to face external challenges. Unresolved issues with supply, food quality, and equipment can undermine the morale of the military and their ability to execute assigned tasks. Reforms in this area are becoming critically necessary to ensure appropriate support for military units and, overall, national security in Ukraine.
