Ukrainian Defense Forces to Receive Health and Wellness Payments in 2026

Українські військові отримають виплати на покращення здоров’я та благополуччя у 2026 році.

Health and Wellness Allowance for Military Personnel

Members of the Defense Forces are entitled to an annual, one-time health and wellness allowance, which will be paid in 2026 upon meeting specific conditions. This payment is made once per calendar year and is equivalent to one month of the service member's regular monetary allowance. This policy is part of broader efforts to support troops engaged in prolonged conflict.

Eligibility for leave is granted after 30 days of service. Typically, the wellness funds are disbursed when a soldier departs for leave. However, there is a provision to receive this financial assistance without actually taking leave. This option is available in situations where frontline conditions prevent personnel from leaving their positions.

Tetiana Zabrodska noted that service members who cannot take leave due to difficult circumstances have the right to submit a report requesting the health and wellness allowance without departing for their annual main vacation.

In such cases, the corresponding allowance amount will be calculated and paid to them.

Significance of the Financial Assistance

This initiative is crucial for supporting the morale and physical well-being of service members operating in demanding combat environments. The wellness allowance, even without the opportunity for leave, provides financial support that can aid in their recovery and improve overall welfare.

It also underscores the importance of social support for the military within the context of protracted conflicts and the state's obligations to its defenders.
