Ukrainian servicemen will be able to rest a little longer as they will be granted additional vacations as stipulated by bill No. 13235. Starting from 2025, they will have the right to 15 additional days of vacation, as announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

'Previously, everyone had 30 days of vacation. Now, 14 days have been added for combat participants,' explained Pavel Palitsa from the President's Office.

Thus, combat participants will get a total of 44 days of vacation instead of the usual 30. Other military personnel will remain with the standard 30 days, but with new rules. According to the new law, 15 vacation days are guaranteed by law, while the remaining days will depend on the internal regulations of the unit and cannot be taken away due to service needs.

'Additional opportunities for servicemen include a ten-day vacation for family circumstances and days for travel to each type of vacation,' noted military ombudsman Olga Reshetilova.

Moreover, the possibility of receiving compensation for unused vacations annually, rather than only after dismissal, is being considered. Another important innovation is that a serviceman can refuse their 15 additional vacation days if they feel they are not needed.
