Ukrainian Soldier Oleg Gladkyi Killed in Dnipropetrovsk Region: Honoring a Fallen Defender

The Life and Service of Oleg Gladkyi

Ukrainian serviceman Oleg Yuriyovych Gladkyi was killed in action on January 18, 2026, near the village of Velykomykhailivka in the Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk region, on the Pokrovsk front. He served as a driver-electrician for a drone systems company within a mechanized battalion, performing critical duties in defense of Ukraine's territorial integrity. His death is a somber reminder of the ongoing conflict's human cost, which continues to claim lives across the front lines.

Oleg Gladkyi was born on February 26, 1978, in the village of Dobriany in the Lviv region. He completed his general secondary education at the Trostianets Village Council School in the Stryi district of Lviv Oblast. Following his studies, he trained as a printer at the Lviv Printing Vocational College, a separate unit of the Ukrainian Academy of Printing. After completing his compulsory military service, he worked as a printer at the Private Joint-Stock Company "Lviv Factory of Paper and White Products Biblos."

Military Service and Loss

In 2023, Oleg Gladkyi enlisted for military service to defend Ukraine against the full-scale Russian invasion. He saw combat on the Donetsk, Kursk, Northern Slobozhanshchyna, and Dnipropetrovsk fronts while serving with the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade. For his service, he was awarded the "War Veteran" medal.

Oleg Gladkyi was laid to rest on January 22, 2025, at the local cemetery in the village of Ternopillia. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, a son, his mother, a sister, and other family members. The loss of soldiers like Gladkyi leaves a profound void in their communities, underscoring the war's deep and lasting impact on Ukrainian society.
