Victor Lyashko visited Mykolaiv region: how children's rehabilitation and hospitals are being restored

Visit of the Minister of Health of Ukraine to Mykolaiv region

Minister of Health of Ukraine Victor Lyashko made a working visit to Mykolaiv region, where he got acquainted with the Center for Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care for Children, as well as the reconstruction of medical facilities in the region. During the visit, he toured the center together with the Head of the UNICEF Office in Ukraine, Munir Mammadzade.

According to information, in 2025 over 21 thousand children under three years old benefited from rehabilitation services. In 2023, at least 76 thousand children of various ages underwent rehabilitation. Today, over 700 rehabilitation beds for children are functioning in Ukraine, and the Center for Medical Rehabilitation received 127 units of medical equipment, which will contribute to improving medical services.

Restoration of medical facilities in Mykolaiv region

As part of the restoration of medical facilities in Mykolaiv region, major renovations are ongoing. For instance, the third floor of the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans has already been completed by 78%. UAH 50 million has been allocated for major repairs. The reconstruction of the surgical department of the Mykolaiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital is currently 27% complete, and UAH 100 million has been allocated for this reconstruction in 2025. The completion of the hospital's reconstruction is expected by the end of 2027, and the government has additionally directed UAH 40 million for this work.

In addition, more than UAH 20 million has been allocated for the restoration of the clinic in the village of Pribuzke. In 2026, UAH 10.5 billion has been allocated for the implementation of public investment projects, taking into account the international financial support of the World Bank Group, for which UAH 19.1 billion has been planned for implementation.

Victor Lyashko noted: 'Our task is to make high-quality rehabilitation services accessible for children in all regions. We are working on this within the framework of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space.'

Victor Lyashko's visit to Mykolaiv region reaffirms the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities to improve medical services, especially for children, which is an important aspect of social policy. As part of the restoration of medical facilities in the region, the government continues to invest significant funds, indicating its intentions to ensure access to quality medical care, especially in the context of post-war reconstruction of the country.
