Viktor Yushchenko at a Kyiv Market

Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko was seen at a market in Kyiv, where he purchased tangerines and chatted with vendors and passersby without a security detail. The news outlet 'Glavcom' reported this information, citing a post on the social network Threads. Specifically, Lyudmyla Arkharova encountered Viktor Yushchenko at the capital's market, where he was speaking with a stall owner.

Another user also confirmed seeing Viktor Yushchenko at the market that day. The former president bought not only tangerines but also tea in a plastic cup. Yushchenko is often seen meeting people in public places like markets, highlighting his accessibility to ordinary citizens. This public visibility is notable for a former head of state in a region where security is often a major concern.

Engaging with the Public and Public Perception

Interestingly, Viktor Yushchenko was once seen buying viburnum saplings at the Volodymyrsky market, also without security, alongside his young son Taras. Yushchenko, who served as Ukraine's third president, actively shares his impressions of the city, having recently posted a photo of evening Troyeshchyna on his Facebook page.

At the market, when asked about the quantity of tangerines, Yushchenko joked that 10 kilograms wholesale was too much for him and suggested splitting the purchase.

"I'll treat the children,"
he remarked, emphasizing his down-to-earth nature and connection with people.

Public opinion on Yushchenko is mixed. Some consider him Ukraine's best president, asserting that 'he is the only normal president of them all.' Others express the view that he was the most adequate, albeit a very mild, leader. Viktor Yushchenko remains a prominent figure in Ukrainian society, even after the conclusion of his presidential term.

Despite his status as a former president, Viktor Yushchenko demonstrates simplicity and approachability by engaging with citizens in everyday settings. This likely reflects his desire to maintain a connection with the public and remain within their sight. Such moments underscore the importance of personal contact in politics and can influence public perception of political figures.
