Fake Driver's License Incident in Vinnytsia
A man in Vinnytsia faced severe consequences after attempting to use a counterfeit driver's license he bought online. The incident came to light when he visited a local service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) because his license was not appearing in the government's Diia mobile app. During the verification process, an administrator detected clear signs that the document was a forgery.
An investigation revealed the individual had purchased the license for 22,000 hryvnias via the internet, bypassing all mandatory training and examination requirements. He received the fake document by mail, which provided the grounds for legal action. As a result, the court has revoked his right to drive any vehicle until the year 2030. Notably, this marks the second time this citizen has had his license revoked, highlighting a pattern of disregard for traffic laws.
The Danger of Forged Documents
The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs has warned of a new type of sophisticated forgery circulating in the country, known as "mirror" driver's licenses. These are high-quality copies of genuine licenses where only the photograph has been altered. Such counterfeits are often produced using stolen personal data from real individuals. The MIA cautions the public about the serious risks associated with this fraudulent activity.
"A driver's license obtained online, through messaging apps, or via acquaintances is fraud and forgery, which carries criminal liability.
