Payment of allowances to non-working pensioners in the Chernobyl disaster zone

Today, a complaint by Larysa Antonovych regarding the non-payment of allowances to non-working pensioners living in resettlement zones after the Chernobyl disaster was reviewed in the Second Senate.

The court focused on the constitutionality of Article 45 of the Law on the State Budget for the next year. This article regulates the conditions and amount of allowances for non-working pensioners in resettlement zones.

“Violations of social rights contradict the Constitution,” emphasized Larysa Antonovych.

After the report by the reporting judge and information about the court process, a closed session was held to make a decision.

A representative of the Verkhovna Rada was present at the Constitutional Court. A video recording of the session is available on the court's official website.

In the resettlement areas after the Chernobyl disaster, there are non-working pensioners who need an allowance for their pensions. The court's decision on this matter could solve the social protection problem for these people, so it is important to follow the further developments.
