Exhibition 'About Me. From the Life of the Ukrainian Elite'

The exhibition 'About Me. From the Life of the Ukrainian Elite' dedicated to former President Viktor Yanukovych has opened at the National Museum of History of Ukraine. The exhibition contains over 250 items that remained in the 'Mezhyhirya' residence. The exhibition aims to showcase the corruption and consequences of Yanukovych's governance, as well as to reflect on the history of his escape from Ukraine.

Viktor Yanukovych's Escape

Viktor Yanukovych fled Ukraine in February 2014 as a result of mass protests and political changes in the country. On February 23, 2014, Yanukovych illegally crossed the state border of Ukraine, leading to law enforcement agencies opening about ten criminal cases against him. As a result of court proceedings, the Supreme Court of Ukraine upheld the verdict for state treason against Yanukovych, under which he received 13 years of imprisonment. In addition, Yanukovych received a second sentence – 15 years imprisonment for inciting desertion and organizing illegal transportation across the state border.

The 'About Me' exhibition operates daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the museum ticket office closing at 5:00 PM. The exhibition can be visited at: Volodymyrska Street, 2, National Museum of History of Ukraine.

The opening of the 'About Me' exhibition is an important step in documenting the modern history of Ukraine and discussing its political challenges.

The exhibition not only illustrates the personality of Viktor Yanukovych but also highlights the consequences of his rule, which has become a symbol of corruption and abuse at the highest level. Visitors have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of not just Yanukovych's history, but also the broader socio-political processes that occurred in Ukraine during his leadership.
