Ivan Marchuk Exhibition at the Museum of Kyiv City History
The Museum of Kyiv City History has extended the run of Ivan Marchuk's exhibition until June 21, 2026. Titled 'I Shook This World,' the showcase marks the artist's 90th birthday. The decision to prolong the event was made by the museum’s director, Viktoriia Mukha.
Among the works on display is a 2003 acrylic portrait of Ukraine's third president, Viktor Yushchenko, measuring 70 by 70 centimeters. Commissioned by a businessman close to the politician, the painting was long thought lost until it was recently rediscovered and donated to the museum. Yushchenko, notably, survived a poisoning attack during the 2004 presidential campaign.
The exhibition opened on March 12, 2026. Viktoriia Mukha remarked,
“Every day we see how deeply Ivan Marchuk’s exhibition resonates. Visitors return again, saying it’s impossible to experience this show in just one visit. That’s why we decided to extend it—so more people can see and truly feel the master’s art.”
Permanent Collection at the Chocolate House
Additionally, on May 12, 2026, the Chocolate House Art Center launched a permanent exhibition of Ivan Marchuk’s works—its first since the venue closed in 2022. Entitled 'Ivan Marchuk. Museum Collections,' it features pieces from the archives of eleven Ukrainian museums, spanning from the late 1960s to the present day.
The exhibition is located at the Museum of Kyiv City History, 7 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho Street.
The extension of Ivan Marchuk's exhibition reflects growing interest in his work, particularly within the context of Ukrainian art and history. It not only promotes the artist but also allows new generations of visitors to engage with pivotal moments in Ukraine’s past through his creations. The expansion of the permanent display at the Chocolate House further underscores the importance of preserving cultural heritage and supporting Ukrainian artists—a vital priority in today’s environment.
