Pretrial Investigation Concluded
Authorities have wrapped up their pretrial investigation into a case involving the repeated rape of a 14-year-old girl by her stepfather in the Vinnytsia region. The indictment has now been forwarded to the court. The alleged crimes took place in a household in the Khmilnyk district, where the accused lived with his common-law wife and her two children.
According to investigators, the man assaulted the girl four separate times between January and February 2026. The attacks occurred in the morning, after the mother had left for work and while the younger child was still asleep. The suspect used psychological coercion, threatening to evict the victim from the home or make life unbearable for the entire family. As a result, the teenager kept silent for some time—until she realized in March that she was pregnant, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported.
The girl eventually told her mother, who immediately contacted law enforcement and medical professionals. The suspect was arrested and placed in custody. With the consent of both the victim and her mother, the pregnancy was terminated through a medical procedure. “The indictment, approved by Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor Oleh Tkalenko, has now been sent to the court,” the Prosecutor General’s Office added.
