Experts reported a sharp rise in the costs of installing wind turbines in 2025 in Australia. The reasons for this are inflation, the complexity in developing new sites, and delays due to planning and legal appeals. According to participants of the Asia-Pacific Wind Energy Summit, prices have nearly doubled.

According to Patrick Gorr, head of the energy division at Arup, power purchase agreements now foresee prices of 110-120 dollars per megawatt-hour, which is a low cost in 2025. The conclusion of deals is becoming increasingly difficult due to the volatility of the wholesale market, where solar energy reduces electricity prices, while large electricity suppliers increase prices at midnight using batteries.

Conclusion

Costs for installing wind turbines in Australia have doubled by 2025 due to inflation, complexity in site development, and delays in planning. Problems with concluding power purchase agreements also complicate the situation in the wind energy sector due to market volatility.
