Ukrainians planning a trip to Poland in 2026 need to consider the requirements for documents, financial support, and border control. The main document remains a valid biometric foreign passport. This is stated by Visit Ukraine.

With a biometric passport, Ukrainians can stay in the Schengen area without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180 days. At the same time, the border control may check the purpose of the trip, the availability of funds, and other necessary documents.

What documents are required for entering Poland in 2026

The foreign passport must be issued no more than 10 years ago and remain valid for at least three months after the planned end of the trip.

For crossing the border, the following may be required:

  • biometric foreign passport;
  • medical insurance with coverage of at least 30,000 euros;
  • confirmation of the purpose of the trip - accommodation reservation, invitation, or documents related to employment or study;
  • a separate biometric passport for the child;
  • if necessary, a birth certificate and documents confirming family ties.

According to the source, an extended foreign passport can be used for returning to Ukraine, but it is not suitable for leaving the country.

How much money do Ukrainians need to enter Poland in 2026

Polish border guards may check for the availability of funds for staying in the country. Financial support can be confirmed in cash, by bank card, or through a statement from the account.

For a trip lasting up to four days, at least 300 zlotys is required. If the stay lasts longer, the guideline is from 75 zlotys per day. For a monthly trip, this is approximately 2250 zlotys.

The lack of confirmation of sufficient funds may serve as an additional reason for questions regarding the purpose and conditions of stay.

How border control with Poland changed in 2026

At the external borders of the Schengen area, an electronic Entry/Exit System (EES) is used, which records the entries and exits of third-country citizens. During the first registration, the system may capture a face image and fingerprints.

For Ukrainians under temporary protection, it is especially important to correctly inform border guards about their status and the purpose of entering Poland.

Entry may be denied due to an invalid passport, a ban in the Schengen Information System, insufficient financial support, or the inability to confirm the purpose of the trip. Other reasons may be related to security and public order.

For individuals entering due to war circumstances and planning to obtain temporary protection, the procedure may differ. In such cases, it is advisable to inform Polish border guards directly during the control process.

It is worth noting that abroad, Ukrainian men have been facilitated in receiving services at consulates.
