Strike on the 'Atlant Aero' Plant
In the early hours of April 19, the Ukrainian Navy launched a strike using Neptune cruise missiles against the 'Atlant Aero' plant in Taganrog, Russia, along with other targets in occupied territories and within Russia. The primary target was the plant's main production facility, which specializes in manufacturing strike and reconnaissance drones. This facility is a key node in Russia's domestic drone production, an industry that has expanded significantly since the full-scale invasion.
The 'Atlant Aero' factory is known for developing and producing drones, including the 'Molniya' model and components for the 'Orion' drone. The 'Orion' drone weighs approximately one tonne and can carry a payload of up to 250 kg. The strike ignited a major fire at the site, indicating substantial damage to the facility.
Other Targets Hit
Additional strikes hit an ammunition depot in the Trudove area of the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region. Warehouses containing military supplies were also damaged near Mangush, Topolyne, and Mariupol in the Donetsk region, as well as near Smile in Zaporizhzhia. In the Novopoltavka area of Zaporizhzhia region, fuel and lubricant storage tanks were struck.
The attacks also damaged an oil refinery in Tuapse, where the AVT-12 primary oil processing unit and RVS-10000 reservoirs were hit. At the Tuapse oil products terminal, equipment at the oil-loading piers, buildings, and RVS-10000 reservoirs were destroyed.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Navy commented on the operation, stating: 'The successful work of our military means a reduction in the enemy's production capacity, minus hundreds of drones that destroy our cities and villages, killing civilians.'
This coordinated attack underscores Ukraine's strategic focus on degrading the infrastructure supporting Russia's war effort. Strikes on key facilities like drone factories and ammunition depots can significantly hinder the enemy's operational capabilities. In the context of modern warfare, such deep strikes represent a crucial element of Ukraine's defensive strategy. These actions also highlight the growing reach and precision of Ukraine's military capabilities in both aerial and maritime domains.
This latest operation is part of a broader strategy to weaken Russia's military capabilities. For a detailed overview of other significant strikes targeting Russian defense and infrastructure, including those in Tuapse and Yeysk, you can read more about the coordinated attacks here.
