A New Chapter for the Belyakov Family
A displaced family from the Donetsk region, the Belyakovs, has been given the keys to a new, fully accessible apartment in Zaporizhzhia. This milestone was made possible through a state program designed to support people with disabilities. Both parents and their son have disabilities, underscoring the critical need for housing that accommodates their specific requirements. This initiative is part of a broader effort to aid the millions of Ukrainians displaced by the ongoing war.
After evacuating to Zaporizhzhia, the family lived in temporary modular housing, which was unsuitable for their needs. Their new home is one of 31 apartments provided through a state subsidy. The apartment was renovated using funds allocated for inclusive retrofitting of temporary residences, a program initiated by the Ministry of Social Policy last year. This project aims to significantly improve living conditions for people with disabilities.
