In June, the Ukrainian market recorded 71.3 thousand transactions of passenger car sales, which is 27.5% less than in the same period last year and 12.9% worse than in May. There was also a decline in the import of used cars - down to 20.5 thousand from 22.5 thousand in May.
Popular models and stable market structure
The most popular among Ukrainians remain Volkswagen, BMW, Renault, VAZ, and Skoda cars. Among them, Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Octavia, and Volkswagen Golf stand out. Daewoo Lanos, Renault Megane, and BMW 5th and 3rd series hold the sales leadership. The average age of used cars in the domestic market is 15.7 years, while imported ones are from 8.8 to 8.9 years old.
Popularity of electric cars and price range
The popularity of electric cars has increased, of which 82% are used vehicles, particularly Tesla Model Y, Nissan Leaf, and Tesla Model 3. The price of used cars ranges from 2800 to 8800 dollars depending on the region, with higher prices in the largest cities and lower prices in border and frontline regions.
In June, attempts were made to conclude a deal. This month, Ukrainians spent an average of 5600 dollars on used cars, which is 9% less than in May. The price of electric cars has increased on average to 8800 dollars. Specifically, for Tesla Model 3, an average of 4000 dollars was paid in June, for Nissan Leaf - 5500.
The negative trend in the Ukrainian used car market continues, with reductions in both the overall volume of transactions and imports. Despite this, sales leaders among cars remain, and the popularity of electric cars in the market is growing. Buyers are choosing models from various price categories, indicating a diversity of demand in this segment.
