Experts in the automotive industry have provided recommendations for drivers regarding the replacement of coolant (antifreeze), highlighting the importance of maintaining protective properties and preventing corrosion.

Coolant over time loses its effectiveness as protection against corrosion and thermal characteristics gradually decrease, which can damage the components of the cooling system and the engine. Manufacturers typically recommend changing antifreeze every 5-10 years or after a mileage of 250,000 to 650,000 km, as well as when the active corrosion inhibitors drop to 85% of the initial level.

New cars may require less frequent replacement of coolant, but recommendations on this may vary depending on the brand and model. It is important to regularly check the fluid level, monitor changes in its appearance, and check for the presence of protective properties. Keeping the cooling system in good condition will help avoid serious breakdowns and save money, nerves, and time in the future.
