Ukrainian drivers have received clarification on which documents they can refuse to show the police at checkpoints. According to the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1455 dated December 29, 2021, drivers may only be asked for identification, vehicle documents, and cargo documents, as well as military documents.
Lawyers emphasize that any other requirements, such as showing a driver's license, insurance policy, or inspection of the car's interior, have no legislative basis.
Currently, checkpoints often demand to see these specific documents and also try to find a reason to check the technical condition of the vehicle. However, such actions have no legal confirmation.
Therefore, Ukrainian drivers can refuse to show documents not mandated by law at checkpoints while adhering to legal requirements.
