Ukraine — a country with a rich natural heritage, picturesque mountains, endless plains, and numerous water bodies. Among this diversity, waterfalls occupy a special place, mesmerizing with their beauty, power, and unique atmosphere. Ukraine indeed has many waterfalls. They differ not only in size but also in location. In general, the best waterfalls in Ukraine create quite a lengthy list.

These waterfalls can be categorized by various criteria, for example, by depth or active recreation. Therefore, there is no unified list: there are quite a few different lists.

For many tourists, a holiday at a waterfall is an opportunity to immerse oneself in harmony with nature, feel its might, and find peace. The Carpathians have become a true concentration of waterfalls, as it is here, thanks to the mountainous terrain and numerous rivers, that they have formed in remarkable abundance. Each waterfall has its own character: from calm and romantic ones resembling thin silver streams to powerful and loud ones that astonish with the force of their flow.

Shypot (Transcarpathia, Pylypets)

The Shypot waterfall is one of the most well-known and frequently visited in Ukraine. Located in the picturesque village of Pylypets in Transcarpathia, it got its name due to the sound of water that seems to be «whispering» as it cascades down in a series of tiers. Its height reaches over 14 meters, and the water falls in several levels, creating a unique picture.

This place attracts not only tourists but also photographers and artists. Here, one can feel the special energy of the Carpathians, as the surroundings are filled with dense forests, aromatic herbs, and pure mountain air. The waterfall became especially popular due to the annual festival of nonconformists held in the summer. Thousands of young people from all over Ukraine gather here to experience the atmosphere of freedom, music, and unity with nature.

In winter, Shypot transforms into a fairy-tale ice sculpture: the water freezes, forming peculiar shapes resembling castles and towers. This wonderful spot is perfect for romantic walks and active recreation — as a famous ski resort is nearby.

Kamenka (Transcarpathia, Mizhhirya)

The Kamenka waterfall is located on the Kamenka River, near the village of Synevyrska Polyana, which is famous for its legendary Synevyr Lake. This waterfall is about 9 meters high and is considered one of the most beautiful in the Mizhhirya region.

Its feature is that the water flow falls vertically, creating a loud roar that can be heard from a distance. The stone boulders, washed by the water streams, look extremely impressive, especially after rain or in spring when the river is filled with melting water.

Nearby, there are tourist trails leading to the Synevyr National Nature Park. Here, one can combine an excursion to the waterfall with a walk to the lake or viewpoints that offer incredible panoramas of the mountains.

Kamenka often becomes a venue for wedding photo shoots, as the background of the waterfall adds a special charm and romance.

Probiy (Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk region)

The Probiy waterfall is one of the symbols of the city of Yaremche. It is located on the Prut River and has a height of about 8 meters. Although it is not the highest waterfall in Ukraine, its popularity is undeniable.

A bridge is thrown over the waterfall, from which a wonderful panorama of the rushing stream opens. Tourists often take photographs here. Nearby there is a souvenir market where one can purchase the products of local craftsmen, treats, and traditional Carpathian teas.

Probiy is not only a natural detail but also a site for active recreation. In warm weather, rafting on the Prut is organized here, providing a real sense of adventure. The loud noise of the water, splashes, and the feeling of the power of nature make a visit to this place unforgettable.

In the evening, one can often meet street musicians by the waterfall, creating a festive atmosphere.

Varnitsa (Carpathians, Yaremche)

The less-known but very picturesque Varnitsa waterfall is located not far from Yaremche. It is small in size but remarkable for its beauty and harmony. The water falls in several streams, creating a gentle yet perceptible noise that calms and sets one up for relaxation.

This place is less crowded than Probiy, making it perfect for those seeking solitude. Here you can enjoy nature, take beautiful photos, and experience the true silence of the Carpathians.

The path to the waterfall goes through the forest, making the walk even more interesting. In summer, it is especially beautiful as the trees create a green tunnel, and the air is filled with the aroma of herbs and flowers.

Sukil (Carpathians, Ivano-Frankivsk region)

The Sukil waterfall is located in a picturesque area near the village of Sukil in Ivano-Frankivsk region. It is formed by the river of the same name, which descends from the mountains in several cascades. The total height of the waterfall is about 5-6 meters.

This place is often chosen for recreation by locals and tourists. The water here is extremely clear, and on hot days, those wishing can even swim in small natural pools formed near the waterfall.

Sukil stands out with its wild beauty: around are cliffs, mosses, and dense forests. Here, one can feel the true purity of nature. A walk to the waterfall is a great option for a day trip.

Maidan (Transcarpathia, Mezhyhirya)

The waterfall with the romantic name «Dew Tears» is located in the Mezhyhirya district of Transcarpathia. It is low — about 2-3 meters, yet its beauty lies in its special tenderness. The water trickles down the rocky slopes, resembling tears.

According to local legends, a girl who lost her beloved once cried here, and since then, the source has not run dry. Thus, the waterfall has become a symbol of purity, sincere feelings, and eternal memory.

Tourists love to visit this place as it has a calm and harmonious atmosphere. Romantic dates, photo shoots, and simply relaxing are often organized here. The waterfall looks especially beautiful in spring when the surrounding nature awakens, and the water sparkles under the sun.

Huk (Transcarpathia, Mizhhirya)

The Huk waterfall is one of the majestic waterfalls of Mizhhirya, captivating with its power and beauty. Its name speaks for itself: the loud roar of the water falling from a height of more than 15 meters can be heard from afar. This place is favored among tourists who strive to experience the true power of mountainous nature.

Huk formed due to a fast river that carved its way through the rocky slopes of the Carpathians. Over the years, the water stream created a picturesque cascade, which is especially impressive in spring when the snow melts in the mountains and the river fills with meltwater. At this time, the roar becomes particularly powerful, and it seems as though nature itself speaks with the voice of the elements.

The path to the waterfall goes through a dense forest filled with the aroma of coniferous trees. This is an ideal spot for walking and resting. Nearby Huk, cozy eco-tourism farms can be found, offering tourists homemade meals and lodging. For photographers, this place is a real treasure, as the views change dramatically with the seasons: spring bubbling, summer greenery, autumn's golden palette, and winter's icy patterns create unique images.

Huk waterfall also holds symbolic significance for locals. It is called the «voice of the mountains», as the noise resembles the call of the Carpathians, which attracts and enchants people.

Manyavsky waterfall (Ivano-Frankivsk region, Manyava village)

The Manyavsky waterfall is one of the most famous and beautiful waterfalls in Ukraine, often referred to as the «jewel of the Carpathians». It is located near the village of Manyava in the Ivano-Frankivsk region and has a height of about 20 meters, making it one of the tallest waterfalls in the region.

This place is considered sacred. According to ancient legends, monks who chose this place for its seclusion and unique atmosphere lived here. Indeed, being at the waterfall, one feels incredible peace and at the same time the power of nature. The stone walls around resemble a canyon, and the water stream rushing down creates a true natural amphitheater.

Tourists love the Manyavsky waterfall not only for its beauty but also for the opportunity to swim. In summer, the bravest visitors plunge into the cool water, which, according to legends, possesses healing properties. Locals claim that the water here restores energy, relieves fatigue, and cleanses thoughts.

A convenient trail leads to the waterfall, allowing one to walk there from the village of Manyava. Along the way, picturesque views open up, making the journey even more exciting. Nearby is the famous Manyavsky Skete — a 17th-century Orthodox monastery, which adds special cultural and spiritual significance to the route.

Trufanets (Lviv region, Sheshory village)

The Trufanets waterfall is located in the Carpathians on the Trufanets River. It is considered the largest natural waterfall in the Ukrainian part of the Carpathians, with the total height of the cascades reaching over 36 meters. The water descends in several levels, creating a fantastic picture that is hard to forget.

In fact, some sources attribute Trufanets to the Rakhiv district of the Transcarpathian region; however, visitors from various corners of Ukraine and the world often associate it with Hutsul villages, including the famous Sheshory, where captivating cascades can also be found. Regardless, this waterfall occupies a special place among the natural monuments of the Carpathians.

It is located near the highway, making it fairly easy to reach. This is one of those places that can be visited even by car, with just a short walk ahead. The waterfall is especially popular among tourists traveling the road to Rakhiv — the highest mountain town in Ukraine.

The cascades of Trufanets look especially picturesque in different seasons: in spring, the water flows with the greatest strength; in summer, they provide refreshment during the heat; in autumn, the waterfalls are adorned by golden deciduous forests, while in winter, the cascades turn into ice palaces.

Trufanets is not only a natural beauty but also a unique symbol of the grandeur of the Carpathians, making one feel the harmony between man and nature.

Kamenny (Transcarpathia, near Pylypets)

The Kamenny waterfall is yet another natural jewel of Transcarpathia, located not far from the village of Pylypets. Its name derives from the rocky slopes down which the water flows. Unlike some other waterfalls, it is not very high, but its beauty lies in the harmonious combination of stone and water.

The water cascades down large stone boulders, creating the effect of natural steps. This makes Kamenny very photogenic and attracts many travelers. Unique photographs can be taken here, as the backdrop of the waterfall changes depending on the lighting and the season.

Nearby the waterfall, it is convenient to stop for a picnic or simply relax after a walk. Picturesque meadows and forests surround this place, making it extremely pleasant for resting. Kamenny is less known than the neighboring Shypot, so it is significantly quieter here, and there are not as many tourists. For this reason, it is especially appreciated by those who seek solitude and a chance to enjoy the silence of the Carpathians.

The path to the waterfall is fairly easy, allowing families with children to visit. This spot is perfect for family outings, romantic dates, and filming.
