Fabio Cannavaro, a 52-year-old specialist, will lead the Uzbekistan national team during the 2026 World Cup.
According to media reports, the Italian's salary will amount to about 4 million euros per year.
In the past, Cannavaro has worked with the Chinese 'Evergrande', Saudi 'Al-Nassr', the Chinese national team, Italian 'Benevento' and 'Udinese', as well as Croatian 'Dinamo' Zagreb.
Fabio Cannavaro is the holder of the 2006 'Ballon d'Or' and a world champion.
The 2026 World Cup will host 48 teams, which will be divided into 12 groups of four teams. The top two teams from each group and the eight best third-placed teams will advance to the Round of 16.
The opening match of the World Cup will take place in Mexico City on June 11, 2026, and the final will be hosted in New York on July 19.
