Volunteer Injured During Civilian Evacuation
Volunteer Denis Khrystov, known by the alias 'Golandets', was wounded while evacuating civilians in the Kharkiv region. The incident occurred in the village of Husynka, Kupiansk district, when his evacuation vehicle was targeted and struck by Russian forces using an FPV drone, according to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office. This attack highlights the increasing use of first-person-view drones for precision strikes on the front lines.
Denis Khrystov was hospitalized following the attack and received necessary medical care. Previously, the volunteer had published video evidence of a war crime in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, which documented the killing of three civilians near the railway station on Mostovyi Lane by Russian military personnel.
Perilous Conditions for Aid Workers
At the time of the attack, Denis Khrystov reported he was returning under his own power and urged others not to be distracted while driving.
"I'm in contact. Don't get distracted at the wheel," he noted in his message.
This event underscores the dangerous conditions in which volunteers operate as they attempt to assist civilians in war zones. The incident illustrates not only the risks volunteers face while performing their duties but also emphasizes the critical importance of their work during wartime. Despite dangers such as attacks employing modern drone technology, volunteers continue to provide aid to civilian populations requiring urgent evacuation and support. The situation in active combat regions remains complex and demands sustained attention from both society and the state.
