Fraud scheme with cars imported as humanitarian aid

It was recently revealed that the head of a charitable organization, posing as a volunteer, devised a cunning scheme with cars brought in from abroad. He attempted to sell these vehicles, pretending they were purchased for the military of the National Guard. This information was disclosed by the police of the Dnipropetrovsk region, reports 'Glavkom'.

The perpetrator used women to transport vehicles to Ukraine under the guise of humanitarian aid. His accomplice, who was also a volunteer, sought buyers for these cars and advertised them on social media. At one point, they even offered a National Guard serviceman to purchase 4 vehicles for $20,000.

However, during the money transfer, the police arrested the criminals. They seized bribe money, bank cards, phones, and vehicle documents. Searches were also conducted at the suspects' residences and parking lots in the city of Zaporizhzhia, where the cars were located.

Operation conducted and its consequences

As a result, 28 vehicles that were illegally imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid were seized, along with laptops, vehicle documents, copies of military documents, technical passports, and other paperwork.

Both suspects were informed of the suspicion under part 3 of article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal use of humanitarian aid in conditions of military situation for the purpose of obtaining significant profits). This article prescribes imprisonment for a term of five to seven years.

A petition was also filed in court to keep both individuals in custody.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to regulate the registration of vehicles that were exported as humanitarian aid through a simplified procedure.

'Glavkom' previously reported on another case where a group from Cherkasy poses as a well-known figure on a fake Telegram channel to collect money for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a result of the operation, it was revealed that the enemies were trying to use humanitarian aid for their own benefit, but thanks to the exposure of the scheme by law enforcement, they were arrested and await their punishment for violating the law.
