Enemy attack on critical infrastructure: how Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions are coping with the consequences

Військові дії завдали шкоди основним об'єктам: як Дніпропетровщина та Запоріжжя переживають наслідки атак.

Situation in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions

As a result of the enemy attack, a critical infrastructure facility was damaged in Dnipropetrovsk region, leading to power outages. In this regard, it was decided to switch all city hospitals in Dnipro to generators. Wastewater management in homes is supported by alternative power sources. To ensure public transportation in the city, electric transport will be replaced by buses. In Dnipropetrovsk region, school holidays have been extended until January 9 inclusive.

In Zaporizhzhia region, the situation is improving: water supply and power supply for medical facilities are gradually being restored. All boiler houses in Zaporizhzhia region are receiving electricity, which contributes to the stabilization of energy supply. More than 200 residents of Zaporizhzhia have sought help at resilience points where they are offered the opportunity to warm up with hot tea, charge their gadgets, and stay overnight in warmth and safety.

Comments from authorities and the importance of stability

Comments from representatives of the authorities emphasize the importance of restoring energy infrastructure. Vladyslav Haivanenko stated:

“The situation is serious. However, as soon as the security situation allows, energy workers will begin restoration work.” - Vladyslav Haivanenko

Ivan Fedorov, the mayor of Zaporizhzhia, added:

“Work continues on the provision of electricity, primarily for critical infrastructure facilities.” - Ivan Fedorov

Borys Filatov also confirmed that wastewater management in homes is supported by alternative power sources. The situation remains under control, and the authorities are doing everything possible to ensure comfortable conditions for residents.

This situation highlights the critical importance of the stability of energy infrastructure in the context of armed aggression. Regional authorities are taking urgent measures to ensure the livelihoods of the population, including the use of alternative power sources and support for public institutions. Restoration of energy supply is a priority that requires the efforts of all relevant services, as well as attention from the state.
