Introducing the New VOS 999 Specialty Code
The Ministry of Defense is introducing a new military accounting specialty, VOS 999, for individuals with no prior military training. This code applies to those who have not served in the armed forces or completed any military training courses. While a person with VOS 999 is currently untrained, they would be offered a basic general military training course if called up for service. This change reflects the ongoing need to maintain accurate and detailed military records within Ukrainian society.
Implications for Employers and Employee Records
The introduction of the VOS 999 code carries no negative consequences for employers. According to the Ministry of Defense, its appearance on an employee's record does not affect existing deferments, hinder the reservation process, or provide grounds for fines. Candidates with VOS 999 can be employed without requiring additional clarification from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC). If the code appears for a current employee, the company must update its personal military accounting lists in column 8. This measure is designed to streamline administrative processes without disrupting the workforce.
Furthermore, individuals with VOS 999 are registered on the lists for privates, sergeants, and petty officers. This new specialty serves as a state tool for assessing the number of people who would require training from scratch in the event of mobilization. If a VOS 999 code is assigned to an employee in error, the employer or individual should contact the TRC with the necessary documents to correct the data in the Oberih registry.
The implementation of VOS 999 demonstrates the state's effort to systematically account for citizens without military training, aiming to enable a swift response to mobilization needs. It underscores the importance of preparing a reserve force, which could become critically important should the security situation deteriorate. Crucially, this innovation does not affect current employment relationships, which should ease the adaptation process for businesses and their staff.
