Ukrainian soldier with the call sign Hulk has become the first in the world to destroy two Russian drones of the 'Shahed' type at a distance of about 500 kilometers from the target. This incident has already been labeled unique for modern warfare. This is reported by Wild Hornets.

Shooting down Shaheds at a distance of 500 km: how the record was set

According to developers, soldier Roman from the BULAVA unit used the Hornet Vision Ctrl remote control technology for the interceptors.

Key details of the operation:

  • two kamikaze drones were destroyed;

  • the distance to the target was about 500 km;

  • the control was carried out remotely;

  • a cutting-edge interceptor drone was used.

The company notes that this is the first case in the world where an operator controlled interception at such a distance and achieved real results.

«This is the first case in the world where someone remotely controlled at such a distance — and achieved interception. Not one, but two ‘Shaheds’», — reported the developers.

Drone interception technology: what is known about Hornet Vision Ctrl

The remote control technology for STING interceptors was introduced only recently. It has already undergone combat tests and demonstrated effective results on the front.

The main capabilities of the system:

  • controlling drones hundreds of kilometers from the launch point;

  • expanding the control zone of crews;

  • increasing the effectiveness of countering enemy UAVs.

Developers report that the new technology allows for increasing the controlled area of the front from approximately 20 to 100 kilometers.

This opens new opportunities for air defense, especially in combating kamikaze drones actively used by Russia.

It is noted that Ukraine is actively working on developing cheap interceptor drones aimed at countering Iranian kamikaze drones of the 'Shahed' type. These innovative solutions, which may cost about 2200 dollars, allow Ukraine to create effective systems for protecting its airspace.
