'Olympic Corner' Event Held at Ukraine’s National Children's Library

On September 8, the National Children's Library of Ukraine in Kyiv became the focal point for the nationwide 'Olympic Corner' campaign, a collaborative effort between the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine and the library. This special gathering brought together children, representatives from the NOC, and some of the country’s most celebrated athletes. During the event, the Olympic Diary 2026 was unveiled, a project developed jointly by the Olympic Academy of Ukraine and the NOC.

Welcoming Remarks and Athlete Participation

The ceremony was opened by Vadym Gutzeit, President of the NOC of Ukraine, who expressed gratitude to the National Children's Library and its Director Alla Hordiyenko for their partnership and for hosting such inspiring encounters. Several Olympic champions and medalists attended, including:

  • Freestyle skiing Olympic champion Oleksandr Abramenko,
  • Olympic gold medalist in rowing Nataliya Dovhodko,
  • Wrestling silver medalist Valeriy Andriytsev,
  • Modern pentathlon silver medalist Pavlo Tymoshchenko,
  • Handball bronze medalist Olena Yatsenko,
  • Rowing bronze medalist Tetyana Ustiuzhanina,
  • World championship bronze medalist and Olympic finalist in rhythmic gymnastics Viktoriia Onopriienko,
  • Modern pentathlon Olympian Vladyslav Chekan.

The event was made possible through the support of sponsors and partners including 4F, United Global Logistics, Resource Storage, the Institute of Psychology and Entrepreneurship, Perets FM, the company 'Tsifra,' and Champion Radio. The primary goal of the campaign is to promote the Olympic movement among young people and encourage children’s active participation in sports.

The 'Olympic Corner' initiative exemplifies Ukraine’s commitment to fostering a culture of sports and healthy living among the youth. The collaboration between the National Olympic Committee and educational institutions highlights the importance of engaging children in physical activity, which supports their physical and moral development. The introduction of the Olympic Diary 2026 represents a further effort to instill Olympic values and ideals in the next generation, inspiring them to embrace sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to the inspiring 'Olympic Corner' event, a similar initiative took place at Artek, where over 1,000 children had the opportunity to engage in 20 different sports alongside Olympic athletes. This highlights a growing trend in Ukraine to actively involve the youth in sports and foster connections with elite athletes.
