War in Ukraine and Losses of the Russian Armed Forces
The war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, continues, and during this time, the Russian Armed Forces have sustained significant losses. According to data collected until January 10, 2026, the total combat losses of personnel amount to approximately 1,217,810 individuals. These figures indicate serious consequences of the conflict for the RF military forces.
Losses of Equipment and Military Aviation
In addition to personnel losses, the RF army has also lost a considerable amount of equipment. In particular, the following has been destroyed:
- 11,530 tanks;
- 23,882 armored fighting vehicles;
- 35,908 artillery systems;
- 1,597 multiple launch rocket systems;
- 1,269 anti-aircraft defense systems.
The military aviation has also suffered significant losses: 434 aircraft and 347 helicopters have been destroyed. Operational-tactical drones lost 103,414 units, and cruise missiles – 4,155. In the maritime environment, the losses of ships and boats amount to 28, and submarines – 2. Important information also points to losses of automotive equipment and fuel trucks – 73,510 units, and special equipment – 4,039 units. These figures underline the scale of losses incurred by the RF army over four years of war.
Overall, the conflict in Ukraine has serious consequences not only for the military forces of Russia but also for the stability of the region. The loss of such a large amount of equipment and personnel may affect future military operations of Russia in Ukraine and change the balance of power in the region.
