Wizz Air Announces New Summer Destinations
In partnership with Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, Wizz Air has revealed plans to launch two new summer routes from Cluj-Napoca to Malta and Dubrovnik in 2026. This expansion into the Mediterranean and Adriatic regions offers travelers from Transylvania direct access to popular coastal destinations. Flights are scheduled to commence in late May 2026. The Malta service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, with the inaugural flight set for May 22, 2026. The Dubrovnik route will also run twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, starting from May 23, 2026.
Tickets for both routes start from 129 Romanian Lei (RON) for a one-way trip. This base fare already includes all taxes and allows for one small piece of cabin baggage, with dimensions up to 40x30x20 cm. Seats on these new flights are now available for booking through the airline's official website and mobile application.
Network Growth and Market Presence
The launch of the Malta and Dubrovnik services will complement other routes opening in late 2025. Wizz Air, which has been operating in the Romanian market for 19 years, continues to broaden its extensive network. The carrier's current Romanian operations are substantial, featuring:
- 238 routes originating from 14 airports across Romania;
- direct connections to 83 destinations in 27 countries worldwide;
- 9 operational bases;
- a workforce exceeding 1,600 employees.
These new routes align with Wizz Air's strategy of network expansion and increasing flight accessibility for passengers. Amid rising demand for travel to sought-after tourist spots, such investments are poised to stimulate regional tourism. Furthermore, the new connections are expected to attract more international visitors to Romania, potentially providing a positive impact on the national economy.
