One-Time Payments in Ukraine
Starting April 1, 2023, the Ukrainian government will issue a one-time payment of 1500 hryvnias (approximately 40 USD) to specific groups of citizens. These funds will be distributed automatically throughout April, with no additional application required. The payment is a single disbursement, meaning individuals who qualify under multiple categories will receive it only once.
Eligible Recipients
According to First Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, the payment will reach at least 13 million people, including:
- Old-age pensioners
- People with disabilities
- Low-income families
- Recipients of basic social assistance
- Internally displaced persons (IDPs) receiving social benefits
- Large families
- Single mothers
"The recipients will include old-age pensioners, people with disabilities, low-income families, recipients of basic social assistance, IDPs among social payment recipients, large families, and single mothers. If a person belongs to several eligible categories, the payment will be made only once," stated Yuliia Svyrydenko.
This initiative is designed to assist those whose household budgets are being strained by the global surge in fuel prices.
"The program is intended to support those whose income levels make them vulnerable to the impact of rising global fuel prices. This, in turn, affects the cost of essential goods and services," added Yuliia Svyrydenko.
This new measure follows the launch of the 'eNursery' (єЯсла) child assistance program in early March 2023, which provides 8000 hryvnias monthly. To qualify for that benefit, a mother, father, or guardian must return to work after the child turns one year old. Funds from the 'eNursery' program can be used to pay for a nanny, assistant, or kindergarten.
The 1500-hryvnia payment is part of the Ukrainian government's broader efforts to support vulnerable populations amid economic challenges, including rising costs for basic commodities. This direct aid targets a wide range of recipients, which could help alleviate social strain during a difficult period.
