New Electronic Reservation System for Truck Drivers at Poland's Borders
Beginning February 1, 2027, truck drivers departing Poland through the European Union's external borders will be required to book their border crossing date and location in advance using an electronic reservation system. Each booking will incur a non-refundable fee of 20 Polish zlotys if the vehicle does not arrive on the reserved date.
This regulation applies specifically to truck drivers crossing Poland's external EU borders. The Polish Ministry of Finance is preparing amendments to customs legislation and the National Revenue Administration Act to enforce these changes. Drivers must secure a crossing slot ahead of time to help reduce waiting times at border checkpoints. Reservations can be made via the Electronic Tax and Customs Services Platform (PUESC) or through a dedicated mobile app.
"It is proposed to mandate the reservation of a specific time and place for each cargo vehicle crossing the border when exporting from the Republic of Poland through selected external border checkpoints," stated the Polish Ministry of Finance.
Getting Ready for the New Procedure
The system will not differentiate between vehicle weight categories. Drivers should familiarize themselves with these upcoming requirements and prepare accordingly, as the reservation platform will be accessible one month before the rules take effect. The 20 PLN fee per booking will be collected electronically and will not be refunded if the vehicle fails to arrive at the appointed time, according to the Ministry.
These adjustments aim to streamline border crossings for freight trucks and reduce congestion at border points.
