Starting from 2026, the official salaries of teachers and educators in Ukraine will officially rise. The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution that provides for a 30% increase in salaries. The decision of the government was reported by member of parliament Oleksiy Honcharenko.
According to him, the salary increases will take effect from January 1, 2026.
«We certainly need more, but finally at least something», — he commented on the adopted resolution.
Increase in teachers' salaries from January 1, 2026
According to the Cabinet's decision, the salary increase will apply to both school teachers and educators of educational institutions. The increase will be due to the rise in the basic salary, which serves as a basis for calculating bonuses and allowances.
Previously, the government had repeatedly stated the need for a comprehensive review of teachers' salaries, but the issue remained open due to limited budget capabilities.
Review of salary payments in education: what next
The Ministry of Education and Science previously reported that it is considering several scenarios for further increases in the financial support of educators. In particular, there are discussions about four separate blocks of changes that could be implemented from the new academic year.
It is worth reminding that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine rejected the idea of implementing fixed-term contracts for teachers and proposes to introduce a unified salary for educational staff at the amount of three minimum wages, which will amount to 25941 hryvnias.
