From January 10, 2026: Ukraine faces hourly power outages and restrictions for businesses

З 10 січня 2026 року в Україні впроваджено обмеження на електропостачання та нові правила для підприємств.

Introduction of power outage schedules

Starting from January 10, 2026, power outage schedules and capacity restrictions for industrial consumers will be implemented in Ukraine. These measures are a result of attacks on energy facilities occurring in Ukraine, which have led to a significant number of consumers without electricity in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. In particular, the consumers of the city of Slavutych are completely without electricity.

According to experts, the current winter of 2022-2023 is the most challenging since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Daily Russian shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure and a lack of backup power systems significantly complicate the situation in the energy system. As noted by Maxym Tymchenko, this winter will be a real test for Ukrainians.

Adaptation to new conditions

Ukrenergo specialists emphasize that the situation in the energy system may change and highlight the need for adaptation to new conditions. The introduction of outage schedules and capacity restrictions is a response to the challenges facing Ukraine's energy infrastructure in the context of ongoing attacks.

The implementation of power outage schedules in Ukraine is an important step in ensuring the stability of the energy system amid the war conflict. These measures are aimed at reducing the load on the energy system, which will help preserve resources for critically important facilities and consumers. Given the constant threats from external aggressors, adapting to new realities has become a priority for the energy sector.
