From 2026, fuel excise duties will rise in Ukraine: how much prices will increase

З 2026 року в Україні заплановано збільшення акцизів на паливо: як це вплине на вартість пального.

Increase of fuel excise duties in Ukraine

From January 1, 2026, fuel excise duties will be increased in Ukraine, which will affect retail fuel prices. The largest tax burden is expected on diesel fuel, which may significantly impact consumers' expenses.

Changes in excises

According to the new changes, the excise duty on gasoline will rise from 271.7 to 300.8 euros per 1000 liters. This will lead to an increase in price on the retail market by 1.73 hryvnias per liter. The excise duty on diesel fuel will increase from 215.7 to 253.8 euros per 1000 liters, adding 2.26 hryvnias per liter. The excise on liquefied gas (LPG) will also increase, from 173 to 198 euros per 1000 liters, causing an increase in price by 1.49 hryvnias per liter.

Experts note that the impact of the excise increase on final retail prices depends on the global market. Oleksandr Sirenko noted:

“Prices at gas stations may rise by 50-60 kopecks per liter every decade of January.” - Oleksandr Sirenko

This may pose an additional challenge for consumers who are already facing rising fuel and other goods costs.

Thus, the planned increase in fuel excise duties in Ukraine at the beginning of 2026 will significantly affect fuel prices, which may lead to additional expenses for consumers.

The increase in fuel excise duties in Ukraine reflects the overall trend of state policy aimed at increasing budget revenues, but it also raises concerns among consumers. This may lead to further inflation and the cost of transporting goods, which in turn will impact the prices of goods and services in the country. It is important for consumers to be prepared for potential financial difficulties due to these changes.
