From 2026, unemployment benefits and salaries for teachers and social workers will increase

З 2026 року заплановано підвищення виплат по безробіттю, а також заробітних плат для педагогів та працівників соціальної сфери.

New unemployment assistance regulations in Ukraine

Starting January 1, 2026, new regulations regarding unemployment assistance will be introduced in Ukraine, and the salaries of social workers and teachers will also be increased. The Ministry of Social Policy announced that the minimum unemployment assistance will be 3,900 hryvnias, while the maximum assistance will rise to 8,647 hryvnias.

The changes will also affect social workers, whose salaries will increase by nearly 2.5 times. In turn, teachers, lecturers, and educators will receive a 30% increase at the beginning of the new year. This decision aims to improve social security and increase motivation among workers in these important fields.

Assistance for youth and special conditions

Additionally, youth without insurance experience will be eligible to receive 1,650 hryvnias, an increase compared to the previous 1,500 hryvnias. It should be noted that the new assistance regulations apply to:

  • insured persons who have not had 7 months of insurance experience in the year prior to obtaining unemployment status;
  • those who have worked for at least 7 months before becoming unemployed;
  • internally displaced persons;
  • persons located in temporarily occupied territories who do not possess documents confirming their insurance experience.

The introduction of new unemployment assistance regulations and salary increases for social workers and teachers indicates the growing attention of the state to the social protection of citizens, especially in the context of economic challenges. It is expected that these changes will positively impact the standard of living of the population and contribute to better working conditions in the social and educational sectors, which are critically important for the country’s development.
