As winter approaches, Ukrainians are increasingly thinking about ways to reduce their electricity bills. The basic tariff is 4.32 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour, but with two-zone or three-zone meters, significant savings can be made. This is reported by the publication "Sotsportal".

What types of meters can be installed in Ukraine

The calculation of payments depends on the type of meter:

  • Standard tariff: 4.32 UAH/kWh for all consumers, fixed until the end of October with no plans for increases.

  • Two-zone meter: the night period (23:00–7:00) costs half as much – 2.16 UAH/kWh, daytime – at the basic tariff.

  • Three-zone meter: the night tariff is even lower (1.73 UAH/kWh), but during peak hours (8:00–11:00 and 20:00–22:00), the price is higher – 6.48 UAH/kWh, and during semi-peak time – standard.

Who is granted benefits for electricity payments

Certain categories of Ukrainians can receive benefits from 25% to 100%: these are persons with disabilities, combat veterans, pensioners in rural areas, and large families with low income (below 4240 UAH per person). For example, large families can reduce their expenses by half. To apply, contact social security agencies or providers.

Effective tips for economical electricity consumption

  • Switch to night tariffs and schedule washing, heating water during the night – it can save 15–20%.

  • Use delayed start functions on washing machines and dishwashers.

  • Avoid peak hours with a three-zone meter by not turning on heaters or stoves.

  • Replace bulbs with LEDs – they consume 5–10 times less energy.

  • Insulate your home to reduce the operation of heaters.

  • Unplug devices from outlets to avoid phantom consumption.

  • Cook with slow cookers or microwaves instead of stoves.

  • Upgrade to energy-efficient appliances for long-term savings.

  • Consider solar panels for partial self-sufficiency.

  • Regularly check the meter and bills for errors.

Night tariff is the simplest way to reduce bills, and a comprehensive approach will help survive the heating season without unnecessary expenses. The fixation of the tariff allows time for preparation, although forecasts for the coming years are uncertain.

Let us remind you that the verification of meters has been canceled for residents of occupied territories.
