Ukraine has suspended the use of 'Phantoms' – hidden patrols that recorded traffic violations while on the move. This was stated by Oleksiy Biloshytskyi, the first deputy head of the Patrol Police Department of Ukraine.

'Regarding the 'Phantoms', they are not currently in use. The system is effective, but during the martial law, there are certain nuances regarding their use. A return is possible later,' Biloshytskyi noted.

Instead of 'Phantoms', Ukraine is now actively using open methods of automatic fixation of traffic violations. There are currently 340 auto-fixation cameras and 338 sections controlled by TruCAM devices. This is part of a conscious strategy for road control, which helps drivers stay alert.

In 2020, the number of road traffic accidents with serious consequences significantly decreased due to fixation cameras. The police plan to expand the range of recorded violations, including running red lights and controlling various aspects of road traffic. Age limits for drivers and fines for refusal to speak Ukrainian during customer service are also being discussed.

In summary, Ukraine is transitioning to open methods of road control, changing the strategy of using 'Phantoms' to more transparent and objective approaches aimed at ensuring road safety.
