This summer, tourists from Poland will once again be able to reach the Croatian Adriatic coast without transfers. At the end of June, a seasonal direct train between Warsaw and the Croatian city of Rijeka will resume, running more often and faster than before. This is reported by Croatia Week.
Direct Train to Croatia Returns at the End of June
The seasonal connection between Warsaw and Rijeka will be restored on June 26, 2026.
The route was first launched last summer after several years of preparation. Due to high demand, the project has been extended into the new tourist season.
Ticket sales are expected to start on May 5. It is anticipated that promotional offers will be sold out quickly, as has happened in previous years.
Travel Will Be Faster and More Comfortable
In 2026, travel time will be reduced to approximately 18 hours.
The number of trips will also increase. While last year the train ran four times a week, this year it will depart six times a week.
Passengers will have two travel options:
- second-class seats;
- sleeping compartments for overnight journeys.
Bed linen is already included in the ticket price for passengers in sleeping carriages.
Route Extended Through Slovenia
One of the main new features of the season is the extension of the route through Slovenia.
After arriving in Ljubljana, the train will split into two parts. One trainset will continue to Rijeka, while the other will head to the Slovenian city of Koper on the Adriatic Sea.
Passengers will also be able to purchase a combined ticket to Ljubljana with a subsequent bus transfer to Trieste, Italy.
The route will be operated by the Polish company PKP Intercity. The train will be pulled by a Siemens Vectron locomotive designed with a special marine theme.
Poland remains one of the largest tourist markets for Croatia. Every year, the country ranks among the top five most popular summer vacation destinations for Polish tourists, along with Italy, Greece, and Spain.
Previously, the Polish carrier PKP Intercity announced the launch of an international night train EN Carpatia, which will connect Przemyśl with Munich, Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest.
