Detention of the organizer of illegal departure

In the Kyiv region, the police and the Security Service of Ukraine detained a man who organized the illegal departure of draftees from Ukraine for $10,000. The perpetrator developed a route for illegal transportation across the border with Romania, indicating that he had a clear plan of action.

The detention occurred during a meeting with a client when the latter was handing over the money. The man has already been notified of the suspicion under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for imprisonment for up to nine years.

Detention statistics

It is worth noting that in 2025, 1,424 individuals of mobilization age were detained during illegal attempts to cross the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. This number is four times greater than the figure for 2024, when 326 individuals were detained, and 356 times more than in 2023, when only 4 persons were detained. The Belarusian route, in particular, has entered the top five in terms of the number of detained conscripts.

  • Romania — 10,066 individuals
  • Moldova — 4,937 individuals
  • Slovakia — 2,265 individuals
  • Hungary — 1,841 individuals
  • Poland — 511 individuals
  • Russia — 1 individual

These data indicate an increase in the number of detentions of draftees trying to avoid mobilization.

This case of detaining the organizer of illegal departure is part of a broader trend observed in Ukraine, where the number of individuals attempting to avoid mobilization is increasing.

The increase in detentions in 2025 compared to previous years may indicate a tightening of control by law enforcement agencies and an intensification of the fight against such crimes. This, in turn, may affect the overall situation in the country, considering the relevance of the mobilization topic in the context of military conflict.
